THE STORY BEHIND TOURNEY GEAR

When I coordinated my son's ultimate frisbee team for high school nationals, we traveled from Seattle to Illinois. I researched rental options for essentials and even asked the hotel staff about renting their personal coolers. I ended up buying coolers, chairs, and a shade/rain canopy, which I had to give away after just two days. I was shocked by the waste of money and materials. If Tourney Gear had been available, renting would have been the obvious choice. Then there’s the leftover food and drinks, often a hassle to take home and frequently discarded. Yet, these snacks and drinks can make a significant impact for those in need.

Back home, I realized I could address these issues. I partnered with Teen Feed in Seattle to donate surplus items to their Street Talk Outreach Program, supporting homeless youth. As Tourney Gear expanded to serve other states, I committed to donating extras to shelters and nonprofits local to each tournament. Inspired by the idea of helping both people and the planet, my son even came up with the perfect name: Tourney Gear. It was the start of a mission to reduce stress for tournament coordinators and parents, help the environment, and give back to communities nationwide. Thank you for joining us. Let’s make it happen!
